BRIGHTON ROAD SWING BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

The Brighton Road Swing Bridge spans across the Murray Canal of the Trent Severn Waterway, connecting the communities of Prince Edward County and the Municipality of Quinte West. The project consisted of the construction of a new two lane, highway rated steel swing bridge with sidewalk to replace the existing single lane pony truss structure. Other key components of the project included the installation of new mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems to operate the bridge, rehabilitation of the existing concrete abutments, pivot pier, and guide pier, and reconstruction and realignment of the north and south approaches to the bridge.
