The project included the replacement of the Central Bridge, reconstruction of Bridge Street, new watermain crossing at MacArthur Island, rehabilitation of Gillies Bridge, and upgrades to the pedestrian connection at Mill Street. Notable details included the demolition of the existing Central Bridge over the Mississippi River and the new bridge structure incorporating extensive arch features, piers, and pillars – all completed with architectural form liner to replicate the existing structures and topography. The extensive reconstruction of Bridge Street included new Sanitary, Storm and Watermain Infrastructure, fully restored with stamped concrete sidewalks, crossings, streetlighting, landscaping and street furniture.
