The Clarence-Rockland Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade involved construction of a new headworks building and concurrent upgrades to the existing sewage pumping station within an active wastewater treatment environment. Work required coordinated execution across structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines, with careful planning and sequencing to maintain continuous system operation throughout construction.
The new headworks building was delivered as a reinforced concrete structure founded on deep piles and fully integrated with process, mechanical, electrical, controls, HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and odour control systems. The facility accommodates pretreatment and equalization equipment, standby power, and associated building services, along with yard piping and utility connections. Coordination with the electrical utility was required to establish new hydro services for future expansion.
Upgrades to the existing pumping station included structural modifications, installation of new pumping equipment, and electrical and controls upgrades with additional standby power.
