HURON AVE. AND CAROLINE AVE. INTEGRATED ROAD, SEWER, AND WATERMAIN RECONSTRUCTION

Huron Ave. and Caroline Ave. Integrated Road project included the full reconstruction of the road, including sewers, watermain, services, road building, utilities installation, sidewalks and landscaping. Huron Ave was a challenging project as the Cave Creek Collector (CCC) runs down the middle of the road the entire length of Huron Ave. BRAY worked with a vibration and settlement monitoring specialist to develop and implement a vibration and settlement monitoring plan for the work involved around the Cave Creek Collector, which involved undermining and supporting the CCC to complete the servicing works, as well as road building directly adjacent and over it. The CCC is very shallow in that area, which posed other challenges as normal construction practices had to be altered to protect the CCC. This involved modifying backfilling techniques, ensuring truck and equipment did not impact the CCC. Working in an urban setting, BRAY had to be diligent working around many different third-party utilities, such as hydro, watermains, gas, fiber optic, etc. This involved start up meetings with these utilities to ensure BRAY understood the requirements for working around and/or near these utilities.
