JONES FALLS LOCKS 39-42 REHABILITATION AND TIMBER BRIDGE REPLACEMENT


The work under this contract covered the rehabilitation of the Jones Falls Locks (39 to 42) and Timber Bridge Replacement along the Rideau Canal waterway system. The primary objective was the masonry rehabilitation of the locks, including the rehabilitation of lock gates winches; sluice valves and winches, sluice tunnels; mooring cables and scramble ladders, masonry stairways; railings; masonry sidewalks, concrete chamber floors, installation of secant pile wall and sheet pipe wall, stabilization to historic bridge abutments, improvements to site drainage, and the demolition and construction of a new 74 meter span timber footbridge supported on piles and crossing between Jones Fall Bay and Whitefish Bay immediately downstream of Lock 42.
