NORTH KANATA TRUNK SEWER PHASE 2

Phase 2 included the installation of 1,968m of sanitary trunk sewer through NCC Greenbelt, tying into the North Kanata Trunk Sewer Phase 1, up to the March Road pumping station on Herzberg and Legget drive.

The sewer installation through the NCC Greenbelt required significant erosion and sediment control measures, rock blasting and excavation, vegetative matting, construction of three ponds and significant landscaping reinstatement. The work on Herzberg and Legget Drive required pump station upgrades / modifications, new watermain and service installation and road reconstruction.

There were four trenchless crossings as part of this project. Two were underneath the existing Arnprior Nepean Railways and the others underneath the Kizzell Drain on Herzberg Road.

A total of twenty-one manholes and three precast concrete chambers were benched lined with an HDPE concrete protective liner supplied by AGRU America. BRAY crews were trained and certified by AGRU America for the installation and welding of the HDPE concrete protective liner. This work included bypassing live flow to ensure high-quality welds. All welds were completed with aluminum-backed strips to complete the necessary spark testing to ensure a continuous and impervious welds.
