RENFREW POWER GENERATION DAM REHABILITATION

The project involved a full rehabilitation of three sluiceways at the Thomas Low Generating Station, requiring continuous dewatering while keeping the facility operations. Work included constructing a granular cofferdam that also served as an access road, installing a sheet-pile caisson beside the active water intakes, and maintaining turbidity and environmental compliance throughout. Rehabilitation activities included demolition of existing deck spans and pier sections, placement of roughly 300m3 of new structural concrete, cast in place sluice with structural steel gain inserts in the sills, new pier construction and tremie concrete placement in footings. Structural steel work included new steel decking with log-lifting rails, gain sills, and provisions for the installation of a new roller gate system.
