ST-JEAN RECONSTRUCTION PHASE 2A – EARTH MOVEMENT & BOX CULVERT REPLACEMENT

The project involved roadway reconstruction and servicing in preparation for potential new subdivisions.  Phase 2A consisted of removing peat and soft clay within the wetland, replacing with sound material and installing an 80m large precast box culvert measuring 2.4m x 4.8m.

Nearly 20,000 of unsuitable peat and clay has been excavated and 15,000 m2 of blasted rock placed. 45,000 m3 of select subgrade material will be imported to build up the road embankment to nearly 7m higher than the old road.

Construction of a modular block retaining wall/headwall as well as road construction, paving, and landscaping works remain.
